2026 Photography Contest

Rules and Submission Details

Submit up to 5 photos you have taken at the Fannie Stebbins Wildlife Refuge. Photos should be emailed to: info@friendsoffanniestebbins.org. The categories are Bird, Wildlife, Landscape, Plants (including flowers and fungi), and Macro Photography. You may submit one for each category, or 5 photos in one category, or any combination for a total of 5 photos.

Photos must have been taken at the Fannie Stebbins Refuge and/or adjacent Longmeadow Conservation areas. Photos can be black and white or color, must be original content, and no AI generated or enhanced photos allowed. Normal processing including: cropping, minor adjustments to color, white balance, tone, lighting levels, saturation, contrast, and sharpness is acceptable.

Winners in each category will be featured in an exhibit at the Longmeadow Adult Center for the month of October. Winners will be able to keep their framed print after the exhibit ends.

The deadline for submission is September 1, 2026 by 9pm Eastern. The contest is open to photographers of all skill levels and ages. Friends of Fannie Stebbins Board members are not eligible to enter.

By entering the photo contest, you hereby grant to the Friends of Fannie Stebbins and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (i) non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable publication rights for your photos in all Friends of Fannie Stebbins and US Fish and Wildlife materials, print or electronic, and (ii) the right to use your name, city, state, and country of residence in such publications. This includes the right to use your photos on our websites and in print and electronic advertisements and promotions. All photographs will be credited with the photographer’s name.

Winners will be selected by a panel of three judges based on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. The judges are not affiliated with the Friends of Fannie Stebbins and are volunteering their time, effort, and talent to our event. Each one has a background in photography and/or graphic arts. Judges shall determine eligibility with sole and absolute discretion. Judges have the right to move photos from one category to another. All decisions made by the judges are final.
